Guess who still rests as the background of my blog!? Kanye! I thought I would take a moment to showcase his written reaction of an infamous photo of Kim Kardashian's butt that is swarming the internet currently. He used one of his tweets for this message.
I know this doesn't have much to do with race, but the Kim-Kanye relationship is very central to what he identifies with (black man marrying woman with large butt). I won't take time to talk very much about this right now, but if any of you have any comments about this dynamic, I would love to hear! Thanks.
Haha well, Kanye is definitely very proud of his wife. After all, she is the only person he follows on Twitter. I feel like she's really softened him up.
ReplyDeleteI'm struggling to find something intellectual to say about this dynamic, but I guess we can look at Kanye's progression through his music. Just a year or so ago, Kanye was a high-profile rapper with crazy "pimp game" and no intentions of getting tied down. Lyrics like "have you ever asked your bitch for other bitches?" and "bought her some cheap J. Lo jeans because this ass is free" don't convey a domesticated husband dynamic. That being said, I'd say that most of Kanye's songs (with a few exceptions like Girls, Girls, Girls and My B*tch) don't focus on women for the sake of it. There's usually some other message, and women/money are mentioned as a sort of power note. Those "battle" elements are kind of necessary in rap.
